□ Background
○ Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) was selected to participate in the multi-year capacity building program sponsored by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for two weeks three years in a row from 2015-2017 and STEPI was selected as the implementing agency of the program.
○ This is the 2nd year program for government officials and relevant researchers from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) and other relevant ministries (ex: Agency for Promotion of Industry and Innovation; APII).
□ Program Overview
○ Program Title: 2016 Advanced Training on Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (2nd year)
○ Date: November 2nd (Wed)-November 10th (Tues), 2016 (Period: Total 7 days)
○ Location: Tunis, Tunisia
○ Number of Participants (Total 60): Mid-High level Government officials of Tunisian Science & Technology related ministries
○ Scope of the Training Program: Short term intensive training program which include 7 lectures, 2 group project sessions, 4 workshop sessions, and 2 country report sessions.
○ Lecturers and instructors of the training program will not only be from STEPI but also from other related organizations specializing in the field of technology transfer and commercialization, STI policy, R&D Program planning and many more.
□ Specific Objectives
○ To provide Tunisian STI policy makers and practitioners with advanced knowledge about STI strategy planning and priority setting tools through an action learning approach
○ To share Korean experiences of utilizing strategy planning approaches and priority setting tools for STI with the program participants for their capacity building
○ To exchange the views and opinions on further mutual developmental cooperation in STI policy and management
□ Expected Outcome
○ Improve STI policy making and management capabilities of Tunisian policy makers and practitioners and contribute to the nation’s development in R&D strategies etc
○ Further advance fruitful relationship between STEPI-Tunisian S&T related ministries by seeking for future collaborative S&T projects
