[Training] Establishment of Master Plan for Capacity Building of Science, Technology and Innovation Parks in Colombia

As part of the Project ‘Establishment of Master Plan for Capacity Building for STI Parks in Colombia’, Colombian team will be invited to Korea for capacity building training program. It aims to share Korean approaches for STI park strategies and practices at the national and regional level. Two-week training program will be conducted twice during the two-year project period. The first invitational training program will focus on Korean STI park strategy, while the second will focus on management and operation practices of STI parks in Korea. The program will be composed of lectures, presentations, site-visits to STI parks and relevant S&T organizations, brainstorming workshop, and discussion. Through the training program, the participants will be able to have better understanding of STI park strategy making and draw the implications for Colombian context.


1. Title : Establishment of Master Plan for Capacity Building of Science, Technology and Innovation Parks in Colombia - 1st STI Policy Training Program

2. Dates : November 15 -29, 2014

3. Venue : KOICA Training Center, STEPI and various sites in Korea

4. Participants : Colombian Team including Director-General of Colciencias (30 members)

5. Language : English, Korean-Spanish interpretation provided if necessary

6. Training Institute : Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI)

7. Accommodation : KOICA International Cooperation Center (ICC)

8. Objectives

  a) To understand Korean National Innovation System and STI Strategies in context
  b) To apprehend Korean STI Parks with site-visits
  c) To discuss how to apply Korean approaches to Colombian context

9. Program components

  a) Presentations and discussions on the Korean NIS and STI Policy (1 day)
  b) Presentations and discussions on concept, planning and current status of STI parks (2 days)
  c) Field-visits of Korean S&T organizations and STI parks (4 days)
  d) Wrap-up session (1 day)
  e) Workshop (2 days)
