(Azerbaijan) STI Capacity Development Workshop: Invitational Training Program

□ Title: STI Capacity Development Workshop: Promotion of Technology Transfer and Commercialization in Azerbaijan

□ Dates: May 27 (Mon.) – June 1 (Sat.), 2019

□ Venue: Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun Hotel, Seoul, Republic of Korea

□ Purpose

In this invitational training, the capabilities of the exclusive organization for technical transfer are to be improved by providing the practical methodology for technical transfer and commercialization through a series of lectures as well as Q&A related to technical transfer, commercialization, marketing, and startup and by promoting group practice (including preparation of action plan), final matching lecture, visit to institutions, etc.

□ Subject of Invitational Training

STEPI placed emphasis on reinforcing sustainability and professionalism through the intensified training course instead of being a one-time, single training, with the qualification of the candidates for the training proposed under discussion with ANAS on selecting the trainees to compose the invitational training as those meeting the qualification.

The STEPI research team shall review the Applications Forms I and II submitted by the applicants (11 people) with the qualifications above for the final selection of 7 trainees. The matters to be prepared in advance are notified to the seven trainees who are ultimately selected, and an official letter on the invitation to the training is sent.

For internal stability in operating the training course and to improve the effectiveness of the training, the STEPI research team emphasizes trainee selection, program reflecting the needs of the trainees, training for trainers’ program, qualified instructors and visit to the class, discussion and site, etc.

□ Training Methodology

The tailored training consisted of four methods: (1) lectures and Q&A, (2) case studies of best practices, (3) group discussions and trainees’ reporting, and (4) action planning. During the workshop, it is strongly recommended that the participants keep on discussing with the Korean experts intensively as well as deriving implications and lessons from lectures and group discussions. For the development of a practical action plan, the trainers will give feedback consistently to respond to the trainees’ curiosity and questions.
