Dr. Mina Park, former research professor at KAIST gave an insightful seminar on the development of KAIST. In particular, KAIST’s pioneering engineering education and its unique characteristics since its inception were discussed. KAIST represents a core actor in Korea’s rapid economic development thus many developing countries tend to benchmark KAIST model and apply it to their higher education institutions.
Since STEPI-IICC is working on establishing specialized science and technology university in Ethiopia, the seminar provided essential implications that need to be considered when customizing the model for the effective usage in recipient country.
