Capacity building training program for trainees at BPPT Indonesia took place from 30th November to 5th December. The program focused on HR development for science and technology and ADDIE Instructional Systemic Design Process. Experts from various research institutes and universities including STEPI, POSTECH etc. were invited to give insightful lectures.

The program started off with an overview of S&T Policy of Korea and as the participants were trainees at managerial level, they showed a particular interest in S&T human resources development at both national and institutional level. During the lectures, establishing capacity based human resources development for S&T was emphasized and it was noted that in order to do so, understanding the characteristics of S&T professionals is crucial.

S&T professionals are independent and tend to be performance-oriented on individual level. Only after comprehending such behavioral pattern, an effective human resources development plan can be developed. Organizational support for these professionals, performance management, S&T leadership building, knowledge management platform making, management of technology education for career development are considered to be major factors of capacity based human resources development.

Cultural tours and site visits were also organized to SK Telecom ubiquitous museum, Samsung innovation museum and POSCO in Pohang. POSCO as one of leading enterprises in Korea introduced its special training development cases that reflect goals of organization, workplace expectations and learning objectives.

The participants expressed their thanks for organizing such training program. They commented on the high quality of lectures and useful site-visits through which they were able to witness Korea’s rapid development. Moreover they showed interest in further cooperation with STEPI.
