Highlights: Empowering STI governance in Chile

From 22 June to 1 July, the STEPI research team visited Chile to embark on the Inter-American Development Bank project of Chile-Korea Technical Cooperation for Capacity Building. The project aims to strengthen the STI governance of Chile by supporting the Government of Chile to achieve the Agenda for Productivity, Innovation and Economic Growth to achieve sustainable and inclusive knowledge- and innovation-based development on the basis of the Korean experience. The team composed of Dr. Yongsuk Jang, Dr. Wangdong Kim, and Ms. Juyoon Sun, met with various stakeholders from the National Council of Innovation for Development, the Ministry of Economy, government agencies including CORFO, CONICYT, universities, research institutes, private sector and business associations to conduct a diagnosis and analysis of the STI policy governance. In early October, The Korean Innovation Policy Week will take place to share the findings and to present relevant Korean experience to the Chilean key stakeholders. It will provide a platform to validate the findings of the suggested policy implications and build consensus among the stakeholders to enhance the feasibility of implementation.
