STEPI consortium team is currently implementing the feasibility study on the new IT Park in Islamabad with the cooperation with PSEB. This study will support the Korean experience sharing with Pakistan in terms of developing IT cluster such as the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex, the Digital Media City, the Pangyo Technovalley, etc. Based on mutual understanding, the team would support Pakistan side to prepare a development plan to support new IT Park as well as software industry. From 11th to 16th January 2016, the STEPI consortium team visited Islamabad, Pakistan to discuss the draft development plan of IT Park. The visit was a follow-up of the previous trip last year when STEPI-IICC organized a research team with Sangmyung University, Baum Architects, ANSE Co. Ltd., and Office for Civil Solutions, then started conducting a feasibility study on the establishment of IT Park in Islamabad. During this visit, the STEPI-IICC team presented a midterm report, which emphasized the importance of establishing not only a good physical infrastructure but also the well designed strategies and implementation plans. The STEPI consortium team consulted Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) for a long-term development plan and discussed ways of enhancing university-industry collaboration based on the expected IT Park.

The STEPI consortium team also visited the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CICT). The rector and professors of the institute warmly hosted the team and briefed about the science and technology education in the institute. With more than 40,000 incoming students each year, the university is expected to provide highly qualified graduates for the academia and industry in Pakistan as well as the IT Park.
