The 6th Science & Technology ODA Forum
Science and Technology Policy Institute-International Innovation Cooperation Center (STEPI-IICC) hosted the 6th Science & Technology ODA forum on December 17th 2015. The Main theme is "Customized Science & Technology Education and Training Programs for Developing Countries"

The 6th Science and Technology ODA Forum was organized with its focus on S&T education and training programs for developing countries as the demand from many developing countries has gradually increased over the past few years. With the demand for S&T education and training programs rising, it is important for S&T research institutes to conduct effective & customized S&T education and training programs. Therefore, this forum discussed the relevant topics and shed light on specific development directions for S&T education and training programs.


In the first Session, ▲ Ms. Eun Joo Kim, a Senior Researcher of STEPI-IICC presented the topic "Customized STI ODA to Enhance Capacity of Partner Countries" and described the importance of S&T education and training programs based on conducted surveys, ▲ Dr. Seung-Kwon Jang, a professor at Sungkonghoe University delivered a speech on the topic "Member Owned Business (MOB) & International Development" and emphasized on the ODA methods made possible through MOB. In the Last Session, ▲ Gaspard Twagirayezu, a Knowledge Transfer Analyst from Rwanda's National Commission of Science and Technology (NCST) presented experience of Rwanda with the topic "Rwanda's National STI Ecosystem Framework".

The 6th Science & Technology ODA forum made its mark by focusing on specific development methods for S&T education and training programs and viewing S&T ODA in a different perspective.

During the first year (2014), forum's purpose was to provide a platform that shares current Science and Technology ODA projects with relevant policy makers and experts. In the second year (2015), the forum aimed to link Science and Technology ODA with global issues by cooperating with diverse international and domestic STI development organizations. Issues on STI development will be discussed continuously at the forum and more experts will be invited to this forum this year. The Science & Technology ODA forum is expected to be organized four times throughout 2016.
