Final Report Meeting for Feasibility Study on the IT Park Establishment in Islamabad, Pakistan
From 5th to 6th of April 2016, the STEPI consortium visited the Pakistan Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) in Islamabad, Pakistan. The main purpose of this trip was to conduct ‘Final Report Meeting for the Feasibility Study on the IT Park Establishment in Islamabad’. The STEPI consortium led by Dr. Deok Soon Yim shared the result of the feasibility study with Ms. Anusha Rehman Khan, the Minister of State for IT, and Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, the Federal Secretary IT along with senior officials from the Ministry of IT and PSEB.

The feasibility study has assessed the feasibility of an IT park in Pakistan and provided the basic direction for the promotion of Pakistan IT industry with the support of Korea EXIM Bank. Pakistan launched the IT Park establishment project in order to revitalize technological transfers through IT software clusters and university-industry joint research projects. In this regard, the initiatives of IT Park will contribute to Pakistani economic growth, provide a business-friendly environment, and enhance the competitiveness of the country's IT industry, while Korea will help pave the way for university-industry research projects to enter the Pakistani market.

The Minister of State for IT, Mrs. Anusha Rehman Khan said, “Successful establishment of the present IT Park is vital in expanding the project to the establishment of a regional IT Park, which will be a stepping stone in nurturing the country's IT industry and national economic development. Therefore, I expect these initiatives to contribute greatly to reinforcing Pakistan's future potentials.”
